Back by popular demand… Or just because there are too many cool gadgets out there not to showcase, is our What The Tech blog series. Here we get to highlight new and innovative products that use technology to improve the lives of its customers.
Furbo: As a proud dog mama of a French Bulldog named Oogie, I like to know what he’s up to when I’m not home. That’s why when I heard about Furbo, a dog camera with treat-tossing technology, I had to get one! Furbo’s retail for $250 on Amazon and other online retailers, but often goes on sale.
How does it work?
Not only can I have that watchful eye on my pup through the camera, it also has a microphone so I can talk to him too. It’s all connected via wi-fi on a simple smartphone app. And to top it off, there’s a treat dispensing button. Shoot your pre-loaded treats to your dog (as long as he’s being well-behaved of course).
Pure Me Cooling Fan: We all know Dyson makes great vacuums. But when they developed a product line of fans that are bladeless – that was innovation genius. The Pure Me Cooling Fan is personal compact size, perfect for hot summer days in apartments with no A/C. The fans retail for about $300, I’m sure they’re worth every dollar.

The fan cools and purifies the air by an oscillating device with built-in HEPA and carbons filters. These filters capture 99.97% of pollutants and allergens, so it’s great if you have allergies or chronic respiratory issues. The led colour display shows the status of the filter and the airflow speed, which can be remote-controlled.
August Wi-Fi Smart Lock: Have you ever lost your keys? Or perhaps you’re renting your property on AirBnB and don’t live in the area anymore. How do you open and lock the door? This is where the wi-fi smart lock comes in. Through the mobile app you can manage access to the lock, check its usage history and receive notifications when the door is opened. You can also grant access to specified people while away from the property. These locks retail for about $250.
How does it work?
The lock is compatible with most deadbolts, so it is easily integrated to any front door. It is also compatible with most smart-home setups (Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant), so you can control it with voice commands through the mobile app.
